Permissions information for authors

BioScientifica is a member of the STM Agreement regarding the granting of permission to re-use limited amounts of material in other published works. http://www.stm-assoc.org/stm-permission-guidelines/

1. Authors preparing material for publication by BioScientifica

It is your responsibility to clear all copyright permissions for your article and pay any permissions fees.

2. Requesting permission to reproduce material published in BioScientifica books and journals

The following permissions will be granted free of charge:

Requests to reproduce your own work

BioScientifica grants to authors the right to reproduce their work in any publication of which they are the author or editor, subject only to giving proper credit in the work to the original publication by BioScientifica.

Therefore, authors do not need to contact BioScientifica to request permission to reproduce their work.

Requests to reproduce work by another author in academic texts

• A maximum of 3 figures (including tables) from a journal article or book chapter
• A maximum of 5 figures from a whole book
• A single text extract of less than 400 words
• A series of text extracts of less than 800 words

When the request is to reproduce the material in a peer reviewed journal, permission will be granted to reproduce any number of figures and extracts within reason.

For all other requests to reproduce or translate works held under copyright, BioScientifica reserves the right to charge an appropriate fee.

If you have a permissions request for a BioScientifica publication, please send your request to the Permissions Secretary giving as much detail as possible.

Additional information

Permission granted for the re-use of material in print is also granted for any electronic version of that work.

Permission granted for a first edition also applies to subsequent editions and translations.

Commercial reprint sales and translation rights

Or you can opt for the new e-prints, a pdf ‘wrapped’ in copyright protection software that allows the number of accesses you have paid for, with unlimited viewing for each user, and can be sent to you as a link within a week of receiving payment.
